Der 64jährige sorbische Landarbeiter Krestan Serbin hat Probleme. Eigentlich interessiert er sich nicht für Politik. Er arbeitet auf dem Volksgut und nennt einen kleinen Acker, ein paar Schweine und eine Kuh sein eigen. All das will er seiner Tochter Lena vererben. Doch nun soll er in die Landwirtschaftliche Produktionsgenossenschaft (LPG), er bekommt sogar ein Angebot als Lehrlingsausbilder. Krestan ist der neuen Politik nicht abgeneigt, aber sein Eigentum möchte er nicht hergeben. Die "reaktionären" Kräfte des Dorfes wollen ihn auf ihre Seite ziehen, aber von denen läßt er sich schon gar nicht vereinnahmen. Nach wechselvollen Ereignissen und der Erkenntnis, daß Lena am Hof ohnehin nicht interessiert ist, findet er dann doch den Weg zum Kollektiv.

Krestan Serbin, a 64-year-old Sorbian farm-worker, considers himself non-political. He owns a few acres, a few pigs and a cow, and intends to pass all this on to his daughter Lena. Lena, however, shows only little interest. Krestan’s situation becomes more difficult when he is meant to become integrated into the agricultural production cooperative. He even gets offered a position as Training Supervisor. Although Krestan does not oppose the new policy, he is unwilling to surrender his properties. When the political die-hards who intend to hinder the progressive movement try to win him over, Krestan realizes that it is time to show colours. Since he finally realizes that Lena will not take over the farm, he joins the agricultural production cooperative.

Il 64enne agricoltore sorbo Krestan Serbin non s’interessa affatto di politica: coltiva i terreni popolari, nella speranza di poter lasciare il proprio patrimonio - un piccolo campo, un paio di maiali e una mucca - in eredità alla figlia Lena. Chiamato ad associarsi al Consorzio di produttori agricoli, che gli offrono l’opportunità di formare degli apprendisti, Krestan non si dimostra contrario, ma non vuole cedere la sua proprietà. Le forze "reazionarie" del suo paese, invece, vogliono che stia dalla loro parte, ma da tipi come quelli non si lascia persuadere. Dopo una serie di vicissitudini e, soprattutto, dopo aver compreso che Lena non è interessata al podere, Krestan si unisce al collettivo. (italienisch)
