Short Summary (English)

Where lie the roots of the highly developed agricultural industry of the GDR? What were the first steps to be taken? This film deals with the time between 1945 and 1952, the time of the difficult regeneration of agriculture and the introduction of sweeping changes on the land. It tells of experiences, documents the many different forms of team work, and demonstrates the roles of the farmers' self-help organisations and the support afforded by the antifascist democratic organs of power. The foundations of the successful socialist agricultural industry were laid down in these years.

Wo liegen die Wurzeln für die hoch entwickelte Landwirtschaft der DDR, welche Voraussetzungen wurden dafür geschaffen? Der Film befasst sich mit dem Zeitabschnitt 1945 bis 1952, in dem der schwere Anfang der Landwirtschaft und die entscheidenden demokratischen Veränderungen auf dem Lande dokumentiert werden. Er vermittelt Erfahrungen, zeigt die vielfältigen Formen der Gemeinschaftsarbeit, die Rolle der Selbsthilfeorganisation der Bauern und die Unterstützung durch die neuen antifaschistisch-demokratischen Machtorgane. Die Grundlagen für eine erfolgreiche sozialistische Landwirtschaft wurden in jenen Jahren geschaffen.
