Short Summary (English)

Albert Einstein in exile in America. The year 1950 is examined and its implications for the past and present are considered. His discovery of the law of conversion of mass into energy opened the way to the atomic age. Documents tell us of Einstein's attempts to prevent the atomic bomb being built in Hitler´s Germany, his protest against the USA's abuse of nuclear fission, and his role in the internationalpeace-movment.

Der Film stellt Einsteins Position und Versuche der Einflussnahme nach der Emigration aus Deutschland 1932 dar, insbesondere sein Engagement gegen eine militärische Nutzung der Atomenergie. Ausgehend vom Jahr 1950 werden Bezüge zur Vergangenheit und Gegenwart hergestellt.

Es werden persönliche Fotos von Einstein, Bilder von Hiroshima und Zeitdokumente gezeigt.
