Short Summary (English)

1990 - An extraordinary art project takes place at Berlin's open borders upon the inspiration of dramatist Heiner Müller. The project sets the 12 participating international artists the task of installing two works of art, one in East and West Berlin respectively, as close to the Wall as possible; the two works being symbolically connected.

The film introduces the individual - in many cases very unusual - objects, their creators and their motivations.

1990 - im Berlin der offenen Grenze findet auf Anregung des Dramatikers Heiner Müller ein außergewöhnliches Kunstprojekt statt, das den daran teilnehmenden 12 internationalen Künstlern (Giovanni Anselmo, Barbara Bloom, Christian Boltanski, Hans Haacke, Rebecca Horn, Ilya Kabakow, Jannis Kounellis, Volker Via Lewandowski, Mario Merz, Raffael Rheinsberg, Krystof Wodizko) die Aufgabe stellt, je ein Kunstobjekt in Ost. Und Westberlin möglichst in Mauernähe zu installieren und gedanklich miteinander zu verbinden. Der Film stellt die einzelnen - vielfach sehr ungewöhnlichen - Objekte, ihre Schöpfer und deren Motivationen vor.
