Short Summary (English)

At the end of the 19th century, the journalist Kit Bellow starts on a trip to Alaska to make his luck in the gold rush. Having just arrived, he meets the attractive and self-confident gold digger Joy who ridicules the wannabe adventurer as a greenhorn. But Kit finds a friend and companion in the odd Shorty, and together they travel to Dawson City. The gold digger city is a tough place to stay and soon Kit has to get in a fight to rescue Joy. But that is by far not the only adventure Kit has to endure. In the course of events, he is only saved from the gallows by the courageous Wild Water Bill, gets cheated by Joy and her father while digging for gold - but eventually finds the legendary "gold lake" together with Shorty. As they cannot hoist the precious metal on their own, but don’t want to cooperate with the large company of "Guggenheim and Sons", they have to change their plans. Thus, Kit takes part in a dogsled racing event whose winner gets the profit-yielding gold claim. With the strong help of Shorty, Joy, and Wild Water Bill he actually manages to win the coveted race.

Short Summary (German)

Vom Abenteuer und sensationellen Goldfunden angezogen, macht sich der Journalist Kit Bellow Ende des vergangenen Jahrhunderts auf den Weg nach Alaska. Gerade mit dem Schiff angekommen, wird er von der schönen und erfolgreichen Goldgräberin Joy als Greenhorn belächelt. Mit seinem neuen Freund Shorty, der den Erschöpften am Wegrand aus der Pfütze zog, kommt er doch in Dawson City an - zum Erstaunen von Joy. Er schlägt sich für sie, macht beim Roulette große Gewinne und wird von Wild Water Bill vor dem Strick gerettet. Mit Shorty wird er auf der Goldsuche von Joy und deren Vater überlistet, schließlich aber finden die beiden den sagenumwobenen Goldsee. Das Gold jedoch können sie ohne enorme finanzielle Mittel nicht heben, und eine Partnerschaft mit der schwerreichen Firma "Guggenheim & Söhne" lehnen sie ab. Dafür nimmt Kit an einem Hundeschlittenrennen um einen ertragreichen, frei gewordenen Claim teil. Shorty besorgt die besten Hunde, Joy hilft mit ihrem Gespann, und Arm in Arm mit Wild Water Bill erreicht Kit das Ziel.
