Short Summary (English)

Kurt Wans(z)ki spends his life in psychiatric clinics. The diagnosis: mental retardation, infantilism, incapacity for education, gradual depression, collector's mania ... Inwardly free of any compulsion, he has accommodated himself to life. He perfects his own art of living as a musician and painter in the streets of East Berlin. The film gives a new and different definition of what is considered "normal".

Short Summary (German)

Kurt Wans(z)ki verbringt sein Leben in psychiatrischen Kliniken. Diagnose: Zurückgebliebensein auf frühkindlicher Stufe, Bildungsunfähigkeit, graduelle Depression, Sammeltrieb... Innerlich frei von allen Zwängen hat er sich sein Leben dort eingerichtet. Ein Lebenskünstler, Musiker und Maler in den Straßen Ost-Berlins. Die Frage nach den Konventionen des "Normalen" ist hier filmisch neu und anders thematisiert.
