Der Film versucht, im Dialog mit Konrad Weiß und anderen Persönlichkeiten, den Weg eines Bürgers der DDR zu einem Politiker der demokratischen Opposition zu zeichnen. Zugleich wird der Versuch unternommen, ein Bild von der Realität der DDR zu vermitteln - schmerzhaft zu tage tretend in dem Bewusstsein, durch die MAUER von der Welt abgeschnitten zu sein und innerhalb der Staatsgrenzen tagtäglich Ab- und Ausgrenzung zu erfahren. Dass Christen beider Konfessionen zu Initiatoren der Bürgerbewegung DEMOKRATIE JETZT wurden, soll als historischer Prozess festgehalten werden.

In a dialogue with Konrad Weiß and other personalities, the film attempts to outline the path of a citizen of the German Democratic Republic (DDR) in becoming a politician of the democratic opposition. The attempt is made simultaneously, to impart an image of the reality of the DDR - the painful manifestation of the conscience to be cut off from the world by the WALL and to discover demarcation and isolation every single day from within the land's borders. The fact that Christians of both denominations became initiators of the citizens'movement DEMOKRATIE JETZT (Democracy now) should be recorded as a historical process.
